Orion? ( he'd roughly explained the motives beyond pretending to be whatever humans had that was equal to conjunx enduratae, but that doesn't mean the details were clear. ) I don't see why he would. And if he is he knows better than to say anything.

( 1) not married & 2) wrong species for any emotional attachment. the idea is almost amusing, if perplexing. )

Well, I just don't want to get us in trouble. He seemed a little sore the last time I spoke to him. But, to be honest, I'd love to meet you. Since you've worked on alternate power sources before, I was hoping that we might be able to exchange some notes.

He's ( shockwave pauses, trying to think how best to put the situation. ) had a difficult time of things lately. Do not hold it against him - I doubt you could go through the same thing and end up any better.

( there's fondness in shockwave's voice, as well as a bit of admiration. )

I would like nothing more. And I must admit to being curious about what I assume are obvious differences in what powers your technology to begin with.

That remains to be seen. We're a very advanced species when it comes to technology. ( on account of being sentient technology themselves ) But I'll certainly come up with something with what I can find here.

[He catches the remorse. It's something he is familiar with, but he lets it pass by without comment. There's no reason to dredge up the past right now. Maybe if it ends up being important later, but not now.]

Not in the slightest. ( completely unbothered by this idea, however. ) Although I've been to a small number of other planets, Earth itself has never made the list.

( mostly because there wasn't anything of worth on earth some four million years ago except an easily ignored organic species that hadn't begun to do anything interesting. )

Then I'll enjoy taking a look at it and seeing what you've accomplished for an ( shockwave nearly says 'organic', but manages to stop it from escaping. the slight hiccup is noticeable but the recovery is smooth. ) a human.

You're missing all the fun, then. Earth is a real party.

[If everyone else is any indication. Honestly, he's happy enough when other races decide not to come to Earth with their conflicts, but all in all he likes learning about them. As long as they don't want to conquer everyone. He hears the fraction of hesitation and smiles just a bit more.]
